Mycena Interrupts, or Pixie's Parasol is a mushroom that grows on rotting wood in Australia and New Zealand. This is the only blue mycena mushroom.

I have to admit something to you, my color is a bit off. I had bad lighting color today and had trouble getting the right shade of blue! None the less, I feel like I got the feel of the delicate fungi and I am excited to share it.

I have a ton of fun facts about this kind of mushroom... We have had a long history with they Amanita Musceria. It is a psychoactive mushroom, but does not contain psylocybin that most of us are familiar with in magic shrooms. Deer and other animals will purposefully seek this mushroom out in order to have a drug experience. We think that is where the flying deer in our modern Christmas mythology comes from! They have a lot more to do with Christmas, Santa, and the fir tree, and if you are interested to know more, let me know!

Algiz, also known as Elhaz, is a Norse rune of protection. Its sharp spokes invoke antlers, calling to mind an elk stag who does what he can to protect what’s rightfully his. This was a mural commission I did a few years back but was waiting to get better photos of it. Unfortunately that has not happened so these are the only photos I have to show! It was based off the image on the album cover you can see in the picture. I had a really great time doing this mural, mostly done with sponges... It went across two walls.
